Postcards from Nowhere
Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
The project “Postcards from nowhere” results from a feeling I had during a road-trip in Abitibi. Through thousands of kilometres, I had the sensation that I was stagnating while I’m driving on these long straight roads. By entering more and more in these similar landscapes and villages, I began to lose little by little my landmarks. This overwhelming likeness forced me to track for every detail to escape this mental confusion.
The captured pictures become a way to establish a link between these large areas. Through their accumulation, they establish the identity of a place that no longer really exists, and they invite the viewer to imagine a story for this fictional region in the middle of nowhere.
