The work you will encounter here are a series of eclectic explorations into the real, made by artists and photographers who were randomly brought together as the graduating year of the BA (Hons) in Photography from the University of Huddersfield for 2018. Randomly brought together but actively constituted as a collective. A collective of individuals who have tested each other, supported each other, debated their ideas, reviewed and critiqued their experiments and challenged each other’s assumptions. A collection of individuals, randomly brought together through their interest in photography that forged themselves into a creative community.
The work you will encounter here is the result of significant journeys for each individual. Journeys into technical mastery, intellectual complexity and emotional emancipation. It has not been an easy sojourn and the quality of the work may mask those moments of frustration and despair as well as manifest those moments of discovery and illumination that are all part of the creative process. The work you will encounter here ranges from high end fashion shoots, product and food photography, to personally driven authored artworks, that have utilized almost every aspect of photographic communication and representation. The works you will encounter here are a series of eclectic explorations into the real, that are examples of their individual creative ambitions but also of their collective brilliance. Magical and Real.
