Dan Morgan is discovering different ways that he can capture our consumerist society within his work. Morgan’s project delves into ideas of anti-conformity, going from being seemingly enveloped in consumerism, to turning against society and not dwelling on social constructs and propaganda. Taking much inspiration from the voyage of explorer Christopher John McCandless, Morgan seeks to create a narrative surrounding the idea of rebelling society and venturing into the wilderness, in search of fulfilling the apparent void that resides within.
“Two years he walks the Earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road.
No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild.”
Alexander Supertramp, May 1992
